Paul Ashurst lives and works at his house and studio in Camberwell, South London.

His work since 2008 is based on local landscapes – Battersea and Ruskin Park. In 2010-2011 inspiration has been found much closer to home, in fact the rear garden of his house and his sitting room interiors. The new paintings show very exact details in parts, mixing a neatly painted bird hidden in a landscape or the edge of a kelim in the new interiors with the free gesture of paint.

Colour in Paul’s work is very bright, mixing fluorescent and interference with conventional colour, by brush and aerosols, Tippex, all kinds of markers and glitter dust all feature in paintings on canvas and drawings on paper.
